You're new to the country, and of course you want to speak the language well. If English is this language, you're probably aware of how difficult this can be. The language contains everything from irregular verbs to weird spellings and regional accents, and it's hard to master. Fortunately, with some practice, you'll be able to discover how to speak English like a native speaker.

Your first step, as with most things, is putting in the time to practice. Don't just stick to what you're reading and writing in class. Instead, do lots of things outside of a traditional classroom, such as watching movies in the language and reading a local newspaper. This helps you get a grasp on the language's nuances.

Of course, one of the smartest things you can do is regularly chat with people who were raised with the language themselves. Putting together a language exchange is a great way to set up these conversations. There are so many people interested in learning another language, so use your own language to help you out.

Set up an arrangement where you help your partner learn your mother tongue while they talk to you in English. Just hearing the language spoken naturally goes a long way in getting you to grasp colloquialisms and intricacies. Plus, you will be able to ask any questions that you may have.

Language are quite often vastly different in and out of the classroom. The only way to talk like the natives is to practice with the natives. Languages continuously evolve, and so strict classroom rules can sound awkward in reality.
