These files are made open to the public for easy retrieval and to make the people aware about the individuals they interact with.

Ordinary citizens of Florida can also request for the record to conduct a background check on the people they interact with such as their neighbors, nannies, tutors, gardeners and even relatives. The criminal records in the state of Florida may contain the personal information of the involved individual such as the name, date of birth, gender and race. Information about the individual you are trying to obtain the record is also necessary. It may take days for the office to provide a copy of the criminal history of an individual. 

The office of the Department of Law Enforcement under the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services manages the criminal records of Florida. The state of Florida has developed a Computerized Criminal History Database to store all criminal files of the state. With this technology, the retrieval of the record can be done easily over the Internet. 

Requesting for a record can now be done through the Internet because of the online database that Florida has developed. Such database is used by a lot of websites to allow them to search for the record anytime. One can do a free criminal records search by browsing through a free website but the results may be far from accurate as compared to the results that are provided by fee based websites. The internet has allowed fast retrieval and cost effective search. It can be done even at home and the results are displayed within
